GreenPaths team at the University of Cantabria engages students in a massive event

Professors Judith Clifton, Daniel Díaz Fuentes and Marcos Fernández, members of the GreenPaths project at the University of Cantabria, participated in an event on the green transition for high school and university students, in which they presented the objectives and progress of the project to more than 100 participants.

 

The event coincided with the I Olympiad on the European Union organized in Cantabria by Equipo Europa association, in collaboration with the team of the alliance of European universities EUNICE at the University of Cantabria. 35 students from seven Secondary Education centers in Cantabria participated (IES Villajunco, IES Cantabria, IES Leonardo Torres Quevedo- Santander, Colegio Ntra. Sra. de La Paz – Torrelavega, IES Valle de Camargo, IES El Astillero and IES Ricardo Bernardo).

 

In addition, around 50 students of European Economic Policy, of the Degree in Economics at the University of Cantabria and various representatives of academic and regional authorities and civil society participated.The inauguration was led by the Rector of the University, Conchi López, and the Regional Minister of Economy and European Funds of Cantabria, Luis Ángel Agüeros. After that, a round table on the green transition in the EU took place, in which professors Judith Clifton and Daniel Díaz Fuentes participated, together with Beatriz Cárcamo, European projects technician of the Government of Cantabria, and which was moderated by Marcos Fernández. Next, students had to complete an essay on how the European Union is addressing environmental sustainability. The students from the winning center of the regional phase of the Olympiad will attend the national final, which will be held in April in Asturias.
